Description of Yanui Beach

Want a picturesque sea? Go to Yanui Beach. This tiny piece of coastline is snugly nestled between rocks in a beautiful bay. It is protected from the wind on all sides, so even in the non-tourist rainy season and strong winds, it remains relatively calm.

On the northern side, the beach is bordered by a large hill with a viewpoint on its top. From there, you can enjoy luxurious views, as the landscape is truly scenic. In the middle of the beach, there is a tiny rocky ledge that looks like an island. It roughly divides the shoreline into two parts.

The beach is about a hundred meters long, so if you arrange to meet someone here, you won’t have to search for them for long. You can walk around the entire shore in a few minutes. On the other hand, such a small length doesn’t allow tourists to spread out along the shore, so it is always crowded. In the low season, there are fewer people, but you still can’t expect to have the white sand all to yourself. The calm waters in this area attract people from all over the island.

Beach Area

The rocky island near the shore divides the beach into northern and southern parts. The division is conditional, but there are still some differences between the shorelines on either side of the rocks.

In the so-called northern part, there are fewer rocks. Here, the sand is white, the entry into the sea is gentle with a sandy bottom, and the water is clean and clear. Children love to splash near the shore because it is comfortable for them to run barefoot along the water’s edge. Rocks appear a little deeper, but they don’t interfere with enjoying a swim in the clear sea waters.

On the southern side, there are more rocks; they are visible even at the water's edge, making it uncomfortable to walk barefoot in the shallow water. Visitors will need special shoes to avoid cutting their feet on the sharp stones. But there are always people here, attracted by the picturesque nature, coziness, and schools of colorful fish. This is a great place for snorkeling! Just be very careful when diving in windy weather. Although the sea does not storm as much as on other beaches, there are still waves, and they can push you onto the rocky shore. The stones here are sharp.

There are no sunbeds and umbrellas like on Surin Beach. Don’t forget to bring a towel and, if possible, a large umbrella for sun protection. There is some vegetation near the sandy line, but the grove is occupied as a parking lot. So don’t count on natural shade, bring umbrellas and sun protection. It’s very easy to get sunburned on a Thai beach.

Infrastructure

There is no real infrastructure; this is a quiet, non-touristy Thailand that attracts independent travelers. The lack of comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas is even liked by some, as it allows them to connect with nature and unwind.

A road passes near the beach, and on the other side, there are a few small cafes. So, you don’t have to worry about food; you won’t go hungry here. The smiling Thai people will gladly offer guests national dishes and a wide selection of exotic fruits.

Just make sure to have the local currency with you. There are no exchange offices or banks here.

Attractions and Entertainment on Yanui Beach

Yanui Beach in Phuket can be called wild, and active people may find it boring here. The main entertainment options for tourists are snorkeling and kayaking. Rental points offer kayak rentals, and you can also rent fins and a mask for just 100 baht.

There aren’t many attractions in this area either. On one side, there is a cliff with a viewpoint called Windmill Viewpoint, which offers an amazing view. A walk to it will be great physical exercise, as you’ll have to climb uphill.

Not far away is another interesting viewpoint on Cape Promthep. This is a more popular spot where tourists often come specifically to enjoy the island’s beauty from above.

Relatively close is the Buddhist temple Nai Harn Monastery and Nai Harn Lake, where sports events are held. But these are not spots for walking tours; you’ll need a bike or rental car.

If you have time and transport, you can also visit the sea gypsy village located on Rawai Beach. The trip will be interesting for seafood lovers, as the village has a fish market where local fishermen sell their catch. You can buy seafood to take away or have it cooked on-site.

Accommodation on Yanui Beach

There are few options for tourist accommodation in the area, but still, people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of tourist spots can rent a room in small guesthouses near the beach.

There are few hotels, all of them are located across the road from the shoreline, so they technically provide accommodation on what is called the "second line." But there is no first line in this area at all, and the road is deserted, so the distance from the shore is very small. It takes only five minutes to walk from the farthest room to the sand line. It should be noted that not all hotels on the first line offer such convenience.

The atmosphere around Yanui Beach is always calm, in the evening it becomes so quiet that you can even hear the gentle rustling of the waves in your room. This is a completely different Thailand – peaceful, harmonious, and measured. A place for restoring strength and full relaxation.

If after a few days you get bored with nature, you always have the option to go to Rawai Beach. Just one and a half kilometers east, the nightlife is bustling – restaurants, bars, and nightclubs are open, you can taste delicious seafood at the fish market, and then visit a Thai massage salon to relieve fatigue.
